A magnificent spectacle at its best – the setting: Kreischberg. Exceeding all expectations, not only more than 2,000 spectators at the AUDI FIS Ski Cross World Cup, but also the racers, team officials and adviser, sponsors and the whole staff, were pretty stoked. Without pushing it too hard, one can say that no Ski Cross World Cup so far has offered as much tension and high class performance as the one at Kreischberg. Call it a perfect promotion for this stunning sport and most notably, for the FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships 2015.
The audience was entertained by classy four-at-a-time clinches, battled out on a 1,000 meter course, and two deserving winners: Ophelie David (FRA) und Alex Fiva (SUI). And for the record, the Austrian squad would give the home crowd some real highlights: Five Austrian racers placed Top-9, an Austrian newcomer, Johannes Rohrweck ending up in second place and the local heroine, Katrin Ofner, sadly missing the podium ending up in fourth place.
